Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital - Plains, PA

This new 12,000 square foot facility incorporates a number of sustainable, green building features that make it a remarkable demonstration project for our region.  It accommodates the original Plains Animal Hospital veterinary practice, along with the Northeast Veterinary Referral Hospital - a specialty surgery practice, and now a 24-hour emergency hospital.  Tubular skylights bring natural light into the treatment areas, at the core of the building.  Multi-stage air-to-air heat pumps equipped with energy recovery ventilators provide an efficient, high-performace air handling system, that maintains optimum indoor air quality throughout the facility.  Stormwater from the roof and parking areas is managed by a series of rain gardens, retention culverts and filtration beds that reduce flooding, and improve water quality.  Interior finishes include recycled rubber walk off mats at the entry, agrifiber countertop materials, low-flush toilets and Low VOC paint.
