J. Donald and Marion Munson Fieldhouse - Edwardsville, PA

When Wilkes University decided to promote their football and field sports teams, they concluded they must start by improving the appearance of their sports facilities.  For years the teams had camped out in old shifting shanties remaining from a former coal-mining company.  To take advantage of the site, a two story, glass-enclosed entry pavilion was built that links the existing buildings.  Wall openings and roof slopes were modified to create a unified series of windows and gabled roof shapes.  The resulting composition has a grander scale appropriate to its dominant position overlooking the ball fields.  And the facility now comfortably houses lockerrooms for football, soccer, wrestling teams, a weight room, board meeting room and an atrium space.
